As the weather gets warmer, anticipation is building for the MCC relief sales that are an annual tradition throughout the United Sates and Canada. Seven of these sales will take place right here in our Great Lakes region.

The Illinois Mennonite Relief Sale kicked off the 2012 relief sale season in our region on March 16-17. With summer-like weather, the sale drew a large crowd to the Interstate Center in in Bloomington, Illinois.

The 54th annual Illinois sale featured some of the traditional activities found at relief sales, including a large auction with quilts, wood furniture and even a John Deere Gator! A wide variety of delicious food was for sale throughout the event, including the sale’s “famous” homemade strawberry cheesecakes, a pancake and sausage breakfast and many baked goods. The Meat Market was a big draw, as well as the Flower Box, which offered a variety of flowers and bird houses and feeders.
